How To: Springtime Wreath!

So I wanted to make a gift for my awesome coworkers who threw me a baby shower this past weekend and decided on making them both personalized wreaths for their doors. Here is the tutorial, step by step!

What you will need:
Foam Wreath (You can get these in various sizes at craft stores)
Yarn, String, Ribbon and/or Fabric
Wooden Letter
Paint

The first wreath I made was for my friend who has a last name beginning with D so I bought a D to go on the wreath. I didn't see any fabric I particuarlly liked at the store so I used some white yarn that I already had at the house to cover the ugly green foam. This was a VERY long process though because yarn is so thin and I pulled it really tight as I went along. It would've been much faster with something thicker like fabric. So if you are in a hurry, try fabric instead (or even ribbon).

Start with your wreath.

Super glue the very beginning of the yarn on the backside of the wreath and start wrapping (TIGHTLY)

Make sure you dot some super glue every inch or two!

keep wrapping and super gluing!

It is a SLOW process with yarn...

Just keep wrapping... just keep gluing...

The end will look like this because of the angle of the wreath. It also helps to wrap a little thicker so you have a center point for where you are going to hang!

This is what it will look like all wrapped and ready to be decorated!!
Now it's time to make your letter! Again, you can wrap it with anything you want. I did this a little looser than the yarn for a more country feel!

Start by super gluing the string to the back.

Start wrapping!

Don't forget to glue along the way!

Now after I finished this, I didn't know how to get to right above and below where I wrapped so I had to improvise.

I wrapped the opposite way and then started wrapping around the D.

It will slowly start to look cute! Once you finish this portion, make sure you do the other little portions as well.

This is what it will look like completed!

Using super glue, attach your letter to the wreath! Make sure you use a lot! (I actually attached it to the opposite side...)
Now add your embellishments (super glue them of course...)! I found these tissue paper flowers on sale at Target. The pink is actually more of a coral color but it didn't turn out very good on camera. Also wrap some more string around the area that you left thicker on the yarn so you have something to hang with!

TA-DA! You just made a simple wreath for your door!

Now here is the second one I made! This was made the same way except instead of yarn on the foam, I put string. I ran out partly through it and decided to use some yellow ribbon that I had to cover the rest and used the same for a bow at the top. For the letter, I painted it with Martha Stewart's Satin paint. Here's a couple of photos of the second wreath!

Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to share your comments/questions with me and I'd love to see the awesome wreaths you've made!! :)
